Food

Durban abounds with restaurants, which are famous for both their international and local cuisines. The specialty of course is the seafood, which is available in almost all places on the city. Also to be tried is the famous Durban Curry. The local cuisine of Durban is unique in itself, with predominantly Indian and Portuguese influences. http://www.eat-out.co.za

Travel

Buses, taxis, and cars are the most common means to travel within the city. Regular bus service is operated by Durban Transport Management Board on regular routes and is the cheapest way of exploring the city. Taxis can be hired from most of the places in the city.

Travel Advisory

Take the same precautions you would take in any urban city: avoid isolated areas and don’t walk alone, particularly at night and during weekends in the major city areas. Be sure to lock all personal items and when walking about be sure all items of importance (wallets, cell phones, purses) are secure. Mobile phones and video cameras should be stored out of sight when not in use as these are attractive items for thieves. Travelers should also avoid displaying jewellery and money. Protect your important documents (passport, credit cards, driving licenses, etc.) at all times.
