    Zimbabwean Music Festival

    The Seattle Zimfest 2002 will take place in Seattle, Washington, on July 12, 13 and 14, 2002 with a one-day Pre-fest and a Teacher Reception on Thursday, July 11. The Zimbabwean Music Festival is a unique three-day celebration of music from Zimbabwe, complete with workshops and concerts featuring guest musicians from Zimbabwe and North American teachers, performers and students.

Has various links as well. Is easy to navigate and has a lot of information and resources for this aspect of heritage.

    GALA’s Oral History Project was launched in co-operation with journalist Mark Gevisser to provide background material for Gevisser’s film biography of Cecil Williams.  The collection consists of more than 60 taped interviews, some of which have been transcribed, and memorabilia. Researchers interested in gay and lesbian life as well as the political milieu in South Africa from the second world war to the 1960s will find this collection useful.

    The International Library of African Music (ILAM)

    ILAM was founded in 1954, as a research institution devoted to the study of African music and the oral arts of Africa. The website contains information about ILAM, a sampling of African music available for downloading, the ILAM catalogue, information about African musicians and instruments, and a wonderful links page to other African music sites.

    List of South African Museums, with links to the museums that have websites. The museums vary from large national museums to regional and smaller museums. Some impressive museum websites are: The South African Jewish Museum and The Capetown Holocaust Memorial Museum. A good way to stay in contact with other museums and what they are doing, working on, and presenting.

    Africa Focus- The Sights and Sounds of a Continent

    This project with the development and dissemination of digital technology has afforded exciting new opportunities in teaching tools and methods, both in the classroom and at a distance. The challenge presented by these new opportunities is to develop and make accessible high-quality materials that are compatible with these new technologies and presentation methods. This project is intended to be a contribution to this process, both as a product and as an evaluated process.

    The South African Data Archive (SADA)

    SADA serves as a broker between a range of data providers and the research community. The archive does not only preserve data for future use, but also adds value to the collections. It safeguards datasets and related documentation and attempts to make it as easily accessible as possible for research and educational purposes.
